2 Understanding the Genesis Preferences

2.2 User

This part of the interface allows you to add multiple users to the Genesis system. This allows each user to have their own configuration, essential for configuring Microdot-II and other programs requiring user information.

When you first start the Genesis Preferences you will see a system manager listed within the users list. This 'system manager' controls the other user within the list. For instance, the system manager has to confirm changes to the details of other users.

We advise you to:

  1. Change the details of the 'system manager' when you first start the Genesis Preferences. Double-click the user, change the username and real name. The person who controls the system manager should be the system owner, or the dominant user.

  2. Enable the 'system manager' so that it appears within the user list in Genesis.

  3. Enter and confirm the password for this system manager. In order for the system manager to have some control, you will need to create, and rememeber (!) the password for this user.

Each user can have their own password. This password allows that user, and only that user to log onto the system. For instance, in the example image below, if user 'rich' created a password such as 'testpass1', and user 'active' tried to logon as user 'rich', active wouldn't succeed unless he knew the password than user 'rich' had set.

Simply click on the "New" button to create a new provider, the "Edit" button allows you to edit an old/existing provider and, of course, the "Delete" button deletes an old/existing provider.

Assuming you have clicked "New" or "Edit" you will see the following interface:
